Well just a note to cheer us all up. The Hadron Supercollider at CERN is still out of service, so we will not be sucked into a black hole anytime soon. On the other hand, we will not find the Higgs Boson or Dark Energy either, so is the survival of the human race really more important then scientific knowledge?
